Accessibility
Creative education that excludes disabled students is not creative education. This site and the programs behind it are built to be usable by everyone, and we want to hear about it when they are not.
Placeholder statement
This is placeholder statement text describing intended practice. It has not been reviewed by counsel or verified by an independent audit, and it must be reviewed and replaced by Music to the Ears Foundation’s advisers before this site launches publicly.
Our target
Music to the Ears Foundation targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for this website. That target applies to the pages, the navigation, the search dialog, and the inquiry form, and it is the standard we hold new work to before it ships.
What that means in practice
Semantic structure
One h1 per page and headings in order, landmark regions, real lists, and a skip link to the main content.
Keyboard operation
Every interactive control is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator that meets contrast requirements.
Contrast
Body text and interface text are checked against a 4.5:1 minimum, and larger text and non-text indicators against their applicable ratios.
Motion
Entrance animation is brief, plays once, and is removed entirely when the operating system reports a reduced-motion preference. There is no parallax, no scroll-jacking, and no looping ambient motion.
Images
Photography carries descriptive alternative text, and decorative imagery is marked as decorative so screen readers skip it rather than announcing noise.
Forms
Every control has a visible, programmatically associated label, and validation messages identify the field and describe the fix in plain language.
Known gaps
Stating a target is easy. Here is where this site does not meet it yet.
- Final photography, video, and captioning are still being supplied. Video published on this site will carry captions and a transcript.
- This site has not yet been through an independent third-party accessibility audit. One is planned before public launch.
- A dedicated accessibility email address is not yet published. Until it is, use the contact route below and mark your message for the attention of the Accessibility contact.
Report an accessibility problem
If any part of this site or any Music to the Ears program is difficult or impossible for you to use, tell us. Include the page or program, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology, browser, or device you were using if you know it. We will acknowledge the report, tell you what we can fix and when, and give you the information another way in the meantime.
