Impact Story
Taking students beyond the classroom and inside the music products industry.
Music to the Ears hosted students and staff from our LAUSD BEAT Lab programs at Orville Wright Middle School and Hillcrest Drive Elementary School for an immersive Creative Career Day field trip at the annual NAMM Show in Anaheim, California.
Students often experience music through artists and performance without seeing the larger industry that makes those experiences possible. The NAMM Show is the largest annual trade show in the U.S. organized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), and hosts over 70,000 attendees, 1,800 exhibitors, and 8,000 artists demonstrating music products.
Students explored the NAMM Show alongside educators and industry professionals, meeting product representatives, discovering new technologies, and testing professional music equipment and instruments firsthand. Through targeted micro-sessions, students learned how products move from ideas and engineering to manufacturing, marketing, sales, education, and ultimately into the hands of artists and creators.
